چکیده
Methods In preliminary study myocardial oedema in 15 patients (13 male) with STEMI within 2-4 days were evaluated . The CMR examination was performed on a 1,5 T scanner (Magnetom Avanto; Siemens; Germany; Erlangen;) using a 8-channel phased-array coil. The parameters of the diffusion-weighted EPI sequence (DWI) were as follows: slice thickness 10mm, repetition time (depending on patient breath cycle) 3-4s, echo time 78ms, bandwidth 1,736 Hz/Px. The DW sequence was ECG-gated and synchronized to the respiratory cycle using PACE technique. Each slice was acquired with b = 50 s/mm2, 400s/mm2 and 800 s/mm2 with three perpendicular directions of the diffusion gradient. DW, STIR T2-weighted and LGE images were obtained in 2-chamber, 4-chamber or short-axis planes. Images were analysed quantitatively, contrast to noise ratio (CNR) of high signal (oedema) to healthy myocardium (CNR1)

A comparision of oedema detection with diffusion-weighted imaging and T2-STIR imaging in patients with acute myocardial infarction
Background The diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is a well known technique in neuroradiology, due to its ability to detect ischemic regions in brain tissue. A recent, rapid development of the magnetic resonance technology and echo planar imaging enabled the application of diffusion imaging in cardiac examinations. The aim of this study was to compare the diffusion weighted imaging with widely us...
متن کاملMyocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction
Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...
متن کاملTranslation of Methdology used in Human Myocardial Imaging to a Sheep Model of Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background: Pre-clinical investigation of stem cells for repairing damaged myocardium predominantly used rodents, however large animals have cardiac circulation closely resembling the human heart. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) could be used for assessing sheep myocardium following an acute myocardial infarction (MI) and response to int...
متن کاملPrediction of long-term cardiac events by 123I-MIBG imaging after acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion therapy
Objective(s): In heart failure, the heart-to-mediastinum (H/M) ratio of the delayed image and washout rate (WR) are well-known as a powerful cardiac event predictors. H/M ratio quantifies the accumulation rate of MIBG in the myocardium and WR quantifies reduction of meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) accumulation in the heart from the early planar image to the delayed pla...
متن کاملSSFP cine images early post-gadolinium improve detection of myocardial oedema in acute myocardial infarction compared to T2-weighted dark blood turbo spin echo images
Background Demonstration of myocardial oedema following MI allows differentiation of acute and chronic MI, and assessment of the area at risk of infarction. T2-weighted dark blood TSE imaging for oedema is technically demanding and prone to artefacts. Our protocol for patients with acute MI include standard oedema imaging sequences and more recently T2 prepared single shot SSFP sequences, follo...
